Announcing Overachiever Streaming

The team at Overachiever Magazine is proud to present Overachiever Streaming, the first streaming platform to feature content exclusively created by and/or starring Asian women and non-binary people. With content that spans genres, tackles tough issues in our community, and explores what it means to be an Asian woman or non-binary person today, Overachiever Streaming is bridging talented API filmmakers with audiences who crave accurate, inoffensive, and non-tokenized representation in the media. At its launch, Overachiever Streaming will feature work from over 15 diverse and dynamic independent filmmakers, with content ranging from short series to animations to experimental films.

Through publishing so many thoughtful and piercing pieces on the lack of positive Asian representation in the media, we were intimately acquainted with the depth of the problem, which the data supports - via USC, no API woman was credited as the sole director of a live-action, top-grossing feature film between 2007-2019. OS was created to fill what we saw as a vacuum in the market - a disconnect between audiences who wanted to support authentic representation and Asian stories being told by Asian people, and incredibly talented creators sharing their stories.

Overachiever Streaming will formally launch in two days, on September 1st - which means there are still two days to take advantage of our pre-sale! Until our launch we are offering 20% off all annual plans - get a discounted year of OS while you can.

I want to take a minute to acknowledge two of the incredibly talented individuals who worked hard to bring this to life - Alena Nguyen and Joyce Tan. As they both leave OM to pursue their careers, we are forever grateful for all of their hard work, and will always remember them as two of the founding members of this new platform. We cannot thank them enough.

And finally, I want to thank all of you. When I launched Overachiever Magazine four years ago in my childhood bedroom, I never in my wildest dreams could have anticipated what it would become and where it would take me. It is through your support that we are able to grow and expand in this way, and I will never be able to fully express the depth of my gratitude.
