Ships in the Night

and when you pass me by...

bye and bye again,

we’ll be ships in the night

passing each other

without a sigh,

without another blink of an eye.

ships in the night,

a silent cry

resounding and resounding throughout the night.

the swaying of lights,

here, a broken heart lies

in the soil and toil.

and with the shifting of the sands,

winds tearing apart these strands

of sinew to bind intertwined hands

binding vows that never reach land.
