Cleanse the Skin

Have you woken up so tired you don’t want to get out of bed? If you don’t get out of bed then you wouldn’t want to wash your face. If you don’t wash your face then the dirt and oil can get stuck on your skin. The reason why people stress about the importance of using face wash is to cleanse the skin from unwanted bacteria, debris, dirt and oil. It can give your skin a fresh look, especially since we spend a whole day not taking care of our face. That’s when the bacteria, oil and dirt can build up. There are lots of different face wash and cleansers in the market. There are exfoliating face wash, soy face cleansers, snail cleansers and goat milk cleansers. Yes, that is correct, you did read snail and goat milk cleansers. Now, before you scrunch your face, let me say they are really great face wash and they works well for the skin.

Review Snail Cleanser

I first saw this when I was visiting Seoul, Korea. I heard South Korea was known for their skincare so I was the hunt looking for new skincare to use. I only bought a couple products because I had to save money if I wanted to continue eating during my vacation. I saw a Tony Moly shop and thought it was one of the cutest stores I’ve ever seen. There were so many products with cute packaging. It was hard to resist buying it all. When I saw the snail cleanser, I couldn’t imagine what it would smell like. The packaging of the cleanser looked like an ombre. The top half was gold but then when your eyes look down the bottle, it blends to a cream color. I love that it has an outline of a snail. The cap is a gold color as well. The scent reminds me of a sweet lemon dessert. It is a subtle fragrance, which is great because I always worry about strong scents on my skin. It comes out as a thick consistency but when you’re applying to your face, it thins out. Not sure if it’s better to apply when your skin is wet. I usually apply it when my face is dry so it feels like I’m dragging chalk on the board. When I wash off the cleanser, my face feels squeaky clean. You could hear the squeaks when removing the cleanser. I always thought it was weird but perhaps that’s how you know your face is clean. If interested, this product can be purchased on Tony Moly’s website, Amazon and Beauty Sesh. On Tony Moly’s website, it is $20 and 150 ml. There are different ingredients used in face products that I find really interesting. That’s one of the reasons why I love Korean beauty! Don’t knock it until you’ve tried it!

Tony Moly Goat Milk Cream Foam Cleanser

Another cleanser I was intrigued by was Tony Moly’s Goat Milk Cleanser. On the bottle it said the raw milk from goats were bred in New Zealand so thought that was interesting. I was hesitant at first because I wasn’t sure what the smell of the cleanser would be like. I did try it out and really came to like it. Now, what I was curious about was what goat milk would do for the skin. I read on a website called Goat Milk Stuff that goat milk is great for people with dry, sensitive skin, or with conditions such as eczema. It can be nice for those that want to keep their skin healthy. Goat milk has ingredients such as Alpha Hydroxy Acids, which helps with getting rid of dead skin cells from your skin’s outer layer. Getting rid of the dead cells can leave your skin’s outer looking smoother and younger. The dead skin cells have bonds that are broken down and that’s why this acid is effective. When removing the dead cells, it can prevent skin conditions by getting rid of irritation. Goat milk contains vitamin A, so it can help repair the skin tissue that’s been damaged. There are studies that said various creams that are made with vitamin A helps decrease lines, wrinkles and control acne. For those that are younger, we don’t think about those benefits but it can help in the long run.  Also, goat milk has minerals such as selenium and it helps prevent skin cancer.

Reviewing Goat Milk Cleanser

The packaging and effectiveness is important to me. I like my products’ packaging to look good. Yes, it does sound superficial but if I don’t like the presentation of it, I most likely won’t use it. The bottle looks very sleek and simple. The bottle is almost empty since I’ve been using it for a couple of years. I love how there’s a black outline and in it contains the name of the product, a small goat and where the goat milk is from. The cleanser is white like milk and it has a creamy, thick consistency. Similar to the snail cleanser, when I apply it to the face and wash it off, it feels squeaky clean. I hated the sound at first because it still sounded like someone dragged his or her fingers along a chalkboard. But after a while, I didn’t mind the sound. The cleanser has a fresh scent. The scent reminds me of when you’re just getting out of your shower. You feel fresh and clean, that’s how this cleanser made me feel. I think my skin can agree with that. My face has large pores but when using cleansers like this, my skin somehow looked smoother and better. It’ll work better for your skin if you continue using it everyday for a few months. It didn’t give me glowing results but it did improve the appearance of my skin. It appears this product is no longer available on any website. Don’t fear, you can still buy goat milk cleansers but with different brands. It’s worth a try!

I enjoy experimenting with different skincare products because I’m always looking for what works with my skin. I have sensitive and dry skin so I have to be careful. I first used Korean skincare products a couple years ago. A cousin of mine introduced me to this new world of skincare but I could never get my hands on it. At the time, Sephora and Ulta didn’t supply it so I figured I’d need to purchase online. I don’t like buying products without trying them in person first but it worked out for me at the end. I also wasn’t working years ago so it was annoying to ask my dad to buy it for me. I’m glad Korean brands are getting the recognition they deserve. My favorite skincare products happen to be Korean brands. Perhaps it’s because it works well for my skin. Some brands like Lancome doesn’t work as well for my skin as I’d hoped. Another benefit from using Korean skincare products is the price. It’s not expensive like some high-end brands such as Dior. It’s affordable, which is an important factor because if you’re spending loads of money on one product that ends up not working for your skin, you’re either stuck with it or you’ll throw it away. Since it’s affordable, your heart doesn’t hurt that much when you discard the products. You can buy new ones without breaking your wallet. When Ulta came out with Korean brands, Tony Moly was one of the Korean brands I tried out. I tried the banana cleanser and was obsessed with the scent. It also worked nicely on my skin. Although I couldn’t tell you how I felt about it because I lost the cleanser within the first month. I was also young so I was more forgetful. Now, I am careful with where my products are so I can review them.

Now, I am obsessed with following Korean brands on social media to find out if they have new products out or which products will intrigue me. During high school, I never cared for skincare products but during college, I really cared. It wasn’t for superficial reasons. I just wanted my skin to appear healthy and having a skincare routine is part of the self-care routine. Make sure to spend time treating yourself every night and day. It’s easy to feel lazy if it’s too late at night. You might think, “Oh, I’ll just continue my routine in the morning. I’m too tired right now!” Try not to give in to that. Make time for it instead of excuses. If you can’t do it one hour before bed then do it two or even three hours before your bedtime. That way, you can’t make an excuse that you were too tired! At that hour, your mind is awake, or at least, not too groggy.
