Three Mists to Ease Up Your Morning

Let’s take a moment to bask in the glory of warm weather. Thank goodness the cold and snow is behind us at least for a little while. I’m sure most of us enjoy hanging out with friends, take photos alone or even workout. Whatever you choose to do, I hope you don’t forget to take care of your skin. Sure, the warm weather might prevent us because it can make us tired but taking care of your skin could boost your mood. What’s a better way to take care of your skin than face mists? Even if you don’t feel like using a ton of products and would rather wash your face and use a face mist, that’s okay as long as you’re hydrated. Face mists can be a fun way to hydrate your skin because you can close your eyes, take in the mist and just breathe for a while. It’s almost like meditation. There are lots of brands out in the market but I wanted to focus on a couple of Korean and Japanese brands. Three brands I wanted to share are Tony Moly, Glow Recipe and Tatcha.

My skin tends to be oily, dry and very sensitive. I researched the products and brands before I purchased. Sometimes, I’ll go to Sephora and get a sample or I buy it and take a chance. I have an allergic reaction to anything floral so sometimes in face mist it’s a hit or miss. Usually I don’t spend a ton of money on face mists but I like to splurge once in a while. I try not to buy anything that has alcohol in it as well. Tony Moly has been a well-known brand in South Korea since 2006. Tony Moly believes in quality with a combination of stylish products. Their products are sold internationally. They do not test on animals and their products are made in Korea. On their website they sell skincare products and makeup. You can save money on the bundles and will have sales on holidays such as Memorial Day. They have various products that use white tea in skincare and rice in toners that are good for the skin. White tea has more anti-oxidants and antiseptic properties so it can help with acne, blemishes, and discoloration according to Cup and Leaf. The rice water can help smooth out the skin, minimize fine lines and the appearance of the pores will decrease. All of their products not only look good but works well too. My favorite part of my skincare routine is face mists. After you get ready for the day, it can be nice to feel refreshed and/or hydrated. I bought the Chok Chok Green Tea Watery Mist from Tony Moly while I was in Korea. On their website it said it’s made with 100% pure Green Tea Ferment Extract and is a hydrating mist and softens all skin types. Since it’s rich in antioxidant ingredients it doesn’t cause much irritation. It also has lemon seed oil and has antifungal and antibacterial properties and rosewood oil to help sooth and revitalize skin. It costs $13 USD on the website. This product is 150 ml, has a green packaging but isn’t transparent. You can’t tell how much product you have left and when you turn the product, you still can’t feel or estimate how much is left. I do wish it was transparent but it’s a guessing game with this product. What I enjoy about this mist is you can hold the button down to spray and it’ll continue to spray until you’re satisfied. For other mists, you can hold the button down but it’ll spray once each time. This product is a fine mist. Imagine you’re at a rainforest and it’s raining. It’s soft, gentle, yet refreshing just like this mist. When you’re finished getting ready, make sure this is in your bag or in your car to get yourself reenergized. It’s especially great if you have dry skin because there’s a lot of moisture setting into your skin. After you spray it on your face, you can feel the water settling in. If you workout like I do, I spray this after my workout to make me feel even more focused, especially if I’m the one driving. Another Korean brand I enjoy is the Watermelon Glow Ultra-Fine Mist by Glow Recipe. Glow Recipe was founded by Christine Chang and Sarah Lee and their goal was to create a website that sells natural, harsh-free products. They have had more than 20 years of experience in the beauty industry. On their website they have products such as beet and vitamin A fresh pressed sheet mask, velvet yam pressed serum and avocado melt sleeping mask. On the Sephora website, they have 11 products for this brand so it’s a limited amount. Their Glow Recipe website has more products if you’re interested in checking them out. At Sephora they’re selling products that are aesthetically appealing and if you look at the names at some of the products, you’ll want to imagine eating various fruits. Especially since some of the names from this brand are named after fruits and vegetables such as Blueberry Bounce Gentle Cleanser, Watermelon Pink Juice Oil- Free Moisturizer and Pineapple-C Brightening Serum.

On Sephora's website, it said this mist is great for normal, dry, combination and oily skin. The website also said, “It’s an Ultra-fine, hydrating mist formulated with a juicy blend of 84-percent watermelon, hyaluronic acid, and hibiscus to refresh skin and enhance makeup.” I didn’t use this mist to enhance makeup but I wanted to refresh my skin. It can also help with dryness, redness, dullness and uneven texture and it’s a lightweight product. They highlighted watermelon, hyaluronic acid and hibiscus as the ingredients. The watermelon is suppose to helpwith soothing irritated skin, hydrates and delivers the essential vitamins and amino acids. The hyaluronic acid helps to hydrate the skin by holding up to 1,000 times of the weight in moisture. Hibiscus flower helps with smoothing the appearance of texture, softens and hydrates skin for applying makeup. The product is vegan, cruelty and gluten free.

As you can imagine from the name of the product, it’s pink! It contains 75 ml, which is 2.52 oz. It is small so you can take it with you on the go. Before using it, you can see the separation of white liquid that looks like water on the bottom and the pink product on the top, which looks like watermelon juice. You do have to shake it before you use it. I love it when products have scents and don’t cause irritation. This smells like strawberry starburst and watermelon juice. If you’re using it for the first time, you have to press down the nozzle a couple times before the product sprays. The nozzle is a bit small so it won’t cover your face with one spray. I spray it at least three times to cover the face. After a while the scent can linger but it’s not overpowering. When I look in the mirror, I can see my face glowing. It does feel hydrating. My skin is really sensitive so I was surprised it wasn’t being irritated. No redness or breakouts occurred during the usage of this product. A brand I’ve recently used is Tatcha. Victoria Tsai is the founder and longs for simplicity and authenticity. She had acute dermatitis and is now aware of being careful with what goes on her skin. Tsai learned about Japanese beauty secrets and lives by the motto, “Less is More” for skincare. Tatcha is working with scientists from the U.S and Japan that honors the beauty practices and integrate it into modern day. On Tatcha’s website, they use various natural ingredients that includes gold, pearl and silk. When I saw gold, I rolled my eyes because I thought of glitter and I’m not a fan of it. Actually, the gold are just small flecks of metal that can help enhance any skin tone. Pearls have calcium, magnesium and other minerals. The crushed pearls polishes and conditions the skin. The silk helps to protect the skin and keep in the natural moisture. Whenever I would go into Sephora for skincare recommendations, the Sephora workers would recommend Tatcha. The packaging for this brand is beautiful and sleek but the price was a bit high for a face mist. I wondered if it was any good because I saw rave reviews on YouTube. I’m not one to follow the crowd when it comes to skincare but I was curious so I bought it in a set. The set is called, Skincare For Makeup Lovers Set. It contains a full size Luminous Dewy Skin a travel size Pure One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil and travel size The Silk Canvas. The price for it was $59 USD. I liked the set because not only can I try various items but I saved money. If you just want the face mist then the full size is $48 USD.The packaging for the mist drew me in because of the color scheme. It’s purple from the middle to the top then on the bottom it’s like an ombre since it fades to white. This mist said it’s good for normal, combination, dry, oily and sensitive skin. On the Sephora website it said, “A silky, fine mist moisturizer that can be used under or over makeup for dewy glowing skin anytime, anywhere.” I usually use the mists alone instead for over or under makeup but I used the silk canvas, foundation, bronzer and this mist. My makeup looked pretty and glowing. It’s like your natural beauty is being enhanced! It doesn’t say this mist helps makeup last longer but itmakes your look dewy. Those are the three mists I’m using from Korean and a Japanese brand! These face mists can be pricy, especially the Tatcha one but it’s worth giving a try! If not these exact mists, you can find similar ones from another Asian brand! No matter what, building a routine like a skincare can really boost your mood and stay in the present.
