issue: metamorphosis

“Because it’s still morning, the day’s yet to dawn,
There’s no limit to where we reach if we push on.”

― Anangsha Alammyan

The time of OM’s first print issue’s release is a time where many of you may being undergoing transformations, whether you’re aware of it or not. As the heat of Summer enters its twilight and the cool wind of Autumn makes its first appearance, some of you might be going back to school, some might be starting new jobs, and some might just be looking for a change. It is also a transformative time for us at Overachiever as we grow our community and find new ways to share our experiences with each other. We hope you will join us on this journey of change and growth.

we want:

in this issue we want to explore the aspects of transformation; the beautiful, the painstaking, the awkward, the rewarding, the unspoken aspects of transformation. we want to explore personal growth during a time when things are ending. what does change feel, sound, hear, smell, taste like? do you resist change? do you seek change?

send us:

  • short form written works (essays less than 800 words, poetry, prose, short stories, journal entries etc.)

  • visual works (photo series, photo essay, physical scanned art, digital art, text messages, etc.)

The issue will have a strong focus on photography and art so we strongly encourage visual submissions. The above examples are simply suggestions, we encourage all contributors to be as creative as they want! All pitches and submissions for the print issue must follow the theme. Any submissions that we do not feel fit the theme may be considered as an online piece or rejected.

If you submit a pitch for a written piece, an editor will be in touch with you as soon as possible. If you do not hear from us, please do not resubmit the form: send an email to our Managing Editor at francine@overachievermagazine.com with the subject as “Print Inquiry: Pitch Form Follow-up.”
