The TV Issue: Female Gaze

Each issue we feature some of our readers to highlight the diversity and stories of Asian women around the world. Here are these issue’s ladies!

“My name is Mia Midori. I am from Los Angeles. I am a third generation black and Japanese American. My hobbies include writing poetry, reading, singing, and dancing. Through my art, I want to continue to help shed light on the Asian American experience.”

Ishani Trada is a medical student. She has lived in different
countries and likes to reply with sarcasm when being questioned. She is open minded and likes to have intelligent conversations. She is kind and caring but sassy when people show their narrow minded thinking.

Iris Orpi (she/her) is a Pushcart Prize nominated poet, novelist, playwright, and screenwriter. She was born and raised in the Philippines and immigrated to Chicago, IL in 2013, where she currently resides. She is the author of the illustrated novel The Espresso Effect and four collections of poetry, including Rampant and Golden. Most of her writings revolve around themes of immigration, womanhood, mental health, spirituality, and intersectionality. They have been screened, performed on stage, interpreted in various art forms, and published in online and print journals around Asia, North America, Europe, and Africa. // IG:
