Click Play to Listen

“Mean Reds” was written by Annie Scherer, with the production lead of Griffin White. It was mixed and mastered by grammy-nominated engineers, Collin Dupuis and Sam Moses. The tune was inspired by a quote in Breakfast at Tiffany’s:

The mean reds are horrible. Suddenly you’re afraid and you don’t know what you’re afraid of.
— Holly Golightly, Breakfast at Tiffany's

In other words, “Mean Reds” are anxious thoughts that creep into your mind unexpectedly and don’t leave. Annie wrote the song about her own experiences with anxiety, creating the flow of the song to feel like an emotional rollercoaster.
