2025: Less Things, More Memories. Make It Count!

My 2025 mantra is: 2025 is all about experiences—new places, new people, new growth! I entered the new year with a different mindset—one focused on embracing a year full of experiences, creating meaningful connections, and making more memories.

I set a goal for myself: each month, I will step out of my comfort zone by attending an event, networking with strangers, and trying something new.

The year began with me attending a vision board workshop with a group of women who were strangers at first but quickly became friends. The event lasted three hours, and we kicked off with something new to me—guided meditation to be more present with ourselves—followed by creating our vision boards. It was an empowering, re-energizing experience that allowed me to break out of my comfort zone and connect with women from different walks of life. I left feeling more empowered and carrying a memory I’ll cherish.

February was just as eventful. I attended an in-person event for an organization I volunteer with, called Empowerem, which provides mentorship programs to Women of Colour. As a volunteer, I was invited to their 5th anniversary celebration. Although the event wasn’t held in my city, and I had to drive two hours to attend, I reminded myself that this was a unique opportunity to meet women who shared my cultural background.

The two-hour drive was worth it. I felt incredibly grateful to contribute as a mentor and to support the success of the organization. The event was dynamic and included an opportunity for me to speak on stage about my experience as a mentor and why I wanted to serve in that role. It was an emotional moment for me. I also had the chance to meet a talented singer, participate in fun activities, and share testimonials to help spread the word about the organization.

After the event, I walked away feeling even more empowered and inspired to give back and be the mentor I never had.

The third element I introduced this year is creating more homemade meals. I believe cooking brings out a creative side in all of us—it reveals hidden talents and lets us channel our inner chef. Homemade meals are not only healthier and tastier but also more budget-friendly. You end up saving a few bucks by not dining out. A few meals I've made so far include chicken and shrimp soup, banana chocolate brownies, and homemade cacio e pepe. There’s a unique sense of fulfillment that comes from cooking your meals—it's about nurturing both body and soul.

The lessons I’ve learned so far:

  • Stepping outside of my comfort zone can lead to powerful and life-changing experiences.

  • Genuine connections can be made even with strangers, turning them into lifelong friends.

  • Empowering others is one of the most rewarding ways to grow and create lasting impact.

  • It's okay to push yourself because the rewards far outweigh the discomfort.

  • Being creative & exploring your passions. Try something new each day - whether it is through painting, cooking, or even sewing!

2025 is just getting started, and I’m more excited than ever to continue this journey of growth, empowerment, and making meaningful memories. ✨
