The Facts are Painted with Blood

On May 7th, 2024, Israeli air strikes hit the Palestinian capital, Rafah, which was previously designated as a 'safe zone', forcing over a dozen Palestinian refugees to evacuate. The death toll as of now is 35,072; 14,500 of these deaths include young children. Yet, the question of how much more bloodshed and death may continue to be able to understand that this war is no less than an act of cultural genocide remains.
We have seen the outcry of the youth and more spread across the globe at a rapid pace in the past few weeks, from Oxford University in England to the lawns of the University of Sydney in Australia. However, instead of hearing their cries, we see them condemned to police brutality, facing arrest, and more, ceasing this movement as 'violent' and 'unnerving', with government officials, such as the 2024 electoral candidate, Donald Trump, describing the peaceful protest in a majority of U.S. colleges as 'tremendous hate' in comparison to the violence at a white nationalist rally in Virginia as 'a little peanut'.
By noting this, we undoubtedly see many people walking on egg shells, as people stumble and murmur discussing this issue, however the facts are painted with blood as we must not turn a blind eye to the increasingly accumulating death toll, and the causes behind it. To see the bigger picture, about 6 months later, is a testament to the indifference that the entire world has shown in support of the Palestinian victims. We must acknowledge the damage and chaos caused by both sides while simultaneously understanding that denying the source of the problem encourages an unlawful act of irreversible destruction, which could harm generations upon generations.
