Artist’s note: As a child growing up in Canada as a 2nd generation immigrant, I remember learning that we called India, Mother India. We cared for her as our own mother. However, during the heights of the pandemic, Mother India got extremely sick. It was during a time when Covid 19 was truly hurting this land. It brought to light the incredible social inequalities and the lack of access that many had to healthcare, medicine and proper burial grounds. Although things have improved, India has a long journey ahead.
